Abstract

Color comic, titled "Their Day!," by Dutch artist Cor van Haasteren. The 23-page comic depicts the construction of Liberty ships in Portland, Oregon, and, in particular, a visit by U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt to the Portland shipyards. Van Haasteren worked on the comic in the 1990s, completing his work in 1997. However, he was unable to find a publisher.

Abstract

Collection consists of three copies of a color comic book made for bulk mailing to voters by the organization People For A Better Oregon in 1985, along with paste-ups of the original artwork. The comic book, titled "Oregon's Balanced Tax Plan: Ballot Measure #1" describes and advocates for a ballot measure that would have created a sales tax to fund education in Oregon.
