George Davidson commonplace book and related materials
Commonplace book of paintings and writings by George Davidson (1768-1801) of Massachusetts, along with other materials relating to Davidson and his works, including a handwritten genealogical document by his son, who was also named George Davidson (born 1798, died 1837 or 1845). A number of the paintings depict sailing ships. Davidson was a crew member on the Columbia Rediviva when it traveled to the Pacific Northwest in the 1790s; he died while captain of the ship Rover.

Small collection consisting of a ship's log and two notebooks relating to the maritime career of Charles Axel Alexius Modeer (born 1877), who was an officer on Pacific Mail Steamship Company vessels and in the U.S. Lighthouse Service. He served on various lightouse tenders, including as commander of the tender Manzanita, based in Astoria, Oregon.
