Abstract Typescript diary of Elias Henry Brodie, Sergeant Major, 1st Battalion, 14th U.S. Infantry, 1865-1896, regarding his service in the military. The journal was continued after his death by his son, Edward Everett Brodie. Elias Henry Brodie (1826-1896) entered the United States Army at age 13 as a bugler and served in the Mexican-American War, the Civil War, and the Indian Wars.
