Two versions of a poster by artist Bernie Haynes Robinson, one a color version dated 1965, and the other a larger, black-and-white version dated 1971 with different wording and some different illustrations. The posters feature drawings depicting Black Americans participating in leisure activities in an earlier era, including dancing, a fish fry, a parade, and a county fair.

Abstract

Materials relating to theaters in Portland, Oregon, collected by Susan Stelljes, including programs and posters. The bulk of the collection's materials concern the Portland Civic Theatre Guild, a volunteer fundraising group to which Stelljes belonged. The Portland Civic Theatre Guild was founded in 1958 to support the Portland Civic Theatre; it later awarded fellowships for theater artists' professional development. The guild dissolved in 2023.

Abstract

Hand-lettered poster advertising performances of "The Drunkard" at Yaw's Top Notch Restaurant by the Mark Allen Players. Yaw's Top Notch was a Portland, Oregon restaurant that was popular in the mid-20th century, and closed in 1985. The Mark Allen Players were a theater company that became the Willamette Repertory Theatre, and then the Portland Repertory Theater, before dissolving in 1998.
