Scope Note: Photographs produced by mounting a negative (made by a variant of the wet collodion process) that is on glass with a dark backing, which makes the image appear as a positive. Came into wide use in the United States in the early 1850s.

Abstract

Collection consists of one 8 x 10-inch ambrotype on a glass plate of Nakoosa Stará Moreland taken by Shane Balkowitsch, one copy of Balkowitsch's book, "Northern Plains Native Americans: A Modern Wet Plate Perspective Volume 2," and digital photographs taken behind the scnenes during Moreland's studio sessions.

Abstract

Collection consists of approximately 630 cased photographs, including daguerreotypes, ambrotypes, and tintypes (also called ferrotypes) dating from approximately 1840-1900. The photographs are primarily portraits of early migrants to Oregon and the western United States. Also represented are early Oregon street and residential scenes.
