Papers and family photographs of Lucia S. Fear (1862-1957). Fear was born in 1862 in Kansas, and worked as a lawyer there in the early 1880s. She and her family later moved to Portland, Oregon, where she participated in the Mazamas climb of Mt. Hood in 1894 and was a member of the Portland Woman's Club.

Photocopy manuscript reminiscences giving a history of the ascents and surveys made on Mt. Hood from 1790 and discussing the establishment of the official elevation of the mountain in 1938 by Roy M. Sylar and others.

Onthank discusses his mountaineering experiences in the Cascade mountains of Oregon and Washington, in the Columbia River Gorge, and on Mount Shasta in California in the early 20th century.
