It is bound with a condensed steamship issue of California News, dated August 14, 1852, featuring details of the funeral of Henry Clay and the death of Edward Gilbert in a duel.

Fred M. White (1893-1981) was a journalist, editor, drama critic and writer. He joined the staff of the Oregonian newspaper in 1917, retiring in 1959. Collection includes correspondence from White to Mary Inman during his time in World War I; radio scripts, 1935-1940, based on Oregon history; World War I souvenirs; scrapbooks, recipe books, account books, etc.; and diplomas and schoolwork of Mary Inman.
