Abstract

Two copies of a poster entitled “The Coronation of Womanhood,” and the corresponding identification key. The poster was commissioned and designed by Abigail Scott Duniway in 1884 to honor supporters of the equal-suffrage movement.

Abstract

Collection consists of correspondence from U.S. Secretary of War Charles M. Conrad and the Ordnance Office concerning a request for arms and ammunition under a U.S. Congress joint resolution of March 2, 1849, as well as a manuscript copy of the resolution, which authorized the secretary of war "to furnish arms and ammunition to persons emigrating to the Territories of Oregon, California, and New Mexico."

Abstract

This oral history interview with Norm Costa was conducted by Stephanie Munly and Ruben Reynaga from November 13-20, 2000, for the Gay and Lesbian Archives of the Pacific Northwest (GLAPN). Costa came out as gay in 1947 and moved to Portland, Oregon, in 1958. He was a gay rights activist and worked with local health departments on HIV prevention efforts.

Abstract Document regarding the sale from Amelia Cowaniah and Charles Cowaniah to Thomas Stephens and James Terwilliger of four-fifths of title for 640 acres in Multnomah County, Oregon. Amelia Cowaniah (later Amelia Clemens) was the daughter of William Johnson, whose land at what would become Portland, Oregon, was claimed by Elizabeth Caruthers Thomas and her son Finice Caruthers after Johnson's death. Amelia Cowaniah unsuccessfully sued to be regarded as the rightful title holder to the land...
