Saxvik represented Idaho on the Northwest Power Planning Council, now known as the Northwest Power and Conservation Council, from 1981 to 1996.

Saylor worked as a cigar-maker in Portland, Oregon; Charles A. Saylor served in the Oregon National Guard, and subsequently in the 162nd Infantry during World War II.
