Herman Oliver papers

Abstract

Papers of rancher and banker Herman Oliver (1885-1970), including correspondence, financial papers, and photographs. Oliver managed the Oliver Ranch, a cattle and sheep ranch in Grant County, Oregon, through the first half of the 20th century. He was also president of the Grant County Bank, and served on the Oregon State Board of Higher Education.

Abstract

Records of the Oliver Ranch, a cattle and sheep ranch in Grant County, Oregon. Records are primarily in the form of financial ledgers and account books or time books. Joseph Cayton Oliver (1850-1921) founded the ranch in the 1870s, and his son Herman Oliver (1885-1970) managed it in the first half of the 20th century.

Oral history interview with Arthur Olmstead conducted by Judy Hartman on January 20, 1988, as part of the Portland General Electric Centennial Oral History Series. Olmstead joined Portland General Electric as a maintenance supervisor in 1976, becoming the general plant manager for the Trojan Nuclear Power Plant in 1987.
