Abstract

Photograph album, possibly compiled by the Spokane, Portland, and Seattle Railway, containing black and white photographs, most taken by Fred H. Kiser, of landscape scenes along the Oregon Trunk Railway. Among the subjects depicted are the Celilo Bridge, the Deschutes River, the Tygh Valley, Mount Jefferson, Crooked River Canyon, and Benham Falls.

Documents and campaign ephemera relating to Charles G. North of Portland, Oregon. North was Multnomah County constable from 1933 until his death in 1952. The collection also includes an account of how, as a young man, North was abducted in San Francisco and forced into service on a whaling ship for over three years.

William C. North and Domingo V. Ruiz papers

Abstract

Newspaper clippings, photographs, and documents relating to William C. North and Domingo V. Ruiz. North lived in Portland, Oregon, and was a legislator and businessman. He and Ruiz met during the Spanish-American War, when North was serving in the 2nd Oregon Volunteer Regiment. Ruiz had been a member of the Spanish garrison, but following the surrender of Manila, Philippines, became friends with the men of the 2nd Oregon, and later became an American citizen.

Records of the Northwest Women's History Project, primarily concerning its interviews with women who worked in shipyards in Portland, Oregon, and Vancouver, Washington, during World War II, and audio recordings of the interviews. The Northwest Women's History Project was founded in 1978, and in the early 1980s made a presentation based on interviews with women who had been shipyard workers in World War II, titled, "Good Work, Sister!"
