Malaspina expedition papers

Abstract Documents relating to the voyage of scientific exploration, 1789-1794, conducted by the Italian mariner Alessandro (Alejandro) Malaspina, assisted by José Bustamante y Guerra, and sponsored by the Spanish crown. The expedition included stops in Trinidad, Mexico, Argentina, Ecuador, Chile, Peru, points along the coast of North America as far north as Nootka Sound, the Philippine Islands, Australia, and New Zealand. George A. Mallett photograph album

Abstract

Album compiled by George A. Mallett that contains 500 black and white photographs, as well as maps, ephemera, and newspaper clippings. Approximately the first half of the album depicts sites and scenes in Oregon in 1948-1949, particularly Portland. The remainder of the album depicts landscapes, buildings, tourist and historic sites, and ships in numerous other states, as well as photographs of powerhouses, engines, generators and other equipment, probably related to Mallett's job.

Steamer Manzanillo plans

Nine sheets of photocopy plans for the sternwheel steamer Manzanillo, designed by architect J. H. Johnston for the Shaver Transportation Company. Plans include top and side views; a cross section; a cabin plan; a wheel plan; a plan of rudders and tillers; a hog chain arrangement plan; and a plan for a forged steel shaft.

Morris Marks residence photographic collection

Abstract

Fourteen black and white photographs of the exterior of the Morris Marks house at 1501 SW Harrison St. in Portland, Oregon. The house, built in 1882 for a Portland, Oregon shoe and boot merchant, was originally located at 321 SW 9th St. It was moved multiple times, and was at 1501 SW Harrison Street and belonged to Wallace K. Huntington at the time the photographs in this collection were taken.
