Scope and Contents Acknowledging Malaspina's letters of 27 April and 3 June from Coquimbo and Lima; Malaspina is asked to verify the supposed Maldonado Strait from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean by navigating around Northern Kamchatka and to change any previous plans he may have had in accordance with the King's wishes; Valdés encloses a report published in France to aid Malaspina with this verification.
