Scope and Contents

The collection consists of the records of the Institute for Managerial and Professional Women from its founding in 1979 until 1988, including board of directors meeting minutes, membership records, and the papers of Pamela Stebbeds, vice president of administration. A significant portion of the collection relates to the annual conference that the IMPW held, and committees that did work for the annual conference. Audio recordings include radio coverage of the annual conference, and recorded business seminars aimed at women in business.

Administrative History

The Institute for Managerial and Professional Women was a non-profit organization founded in 1979 by Alice Armstrong of Portland, Oregon. The organization was dedicated to supporting professional women, including managers and business owners, and it held training workshops and an annual conference. The organization no longer appears to exist as of 2019.

Physical Characteristics and Technical Requirements

Floppy disks require specialized equipment to access. Contents of Box 11 require special handling. Original audiocassettes are not available for direct access, but may be digitized for use upon request. A digitzation fee may apply. Contact library staff for assistance.
