The collection consists of the program for the first Fashionetta held by the Zeta Sigma Omega Chapter of the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority. The program includes images of the Zeta Sigma Omega women who modeled for the event and advertisements for local businesses in Portland, Oregon, many of them owned by African-Americans.

Historical Note

Zeta Omega Sigma was the Portland, Oregon chapter of the African-American college sorority Alpha Kappa Alpha. It was founded in November 1955 by students attending Portland State College (later Portland State University). On September 13, 1956, Zeta Omega Sigma held its first Fashionetta, an annual Alpha Kappa Alpha fundraising event.
