Scope and Contents

Collection consists of 480 35mm negative strips documenting people living and working on the Oregon Coast, taken by Colorado photographer Randy Teeuwen. Teeuwen took the photographs as part of an internship grant through the Western Interstate Council on Higher Education (WICHE) and the Oregon Coastal Zone Management Association. The photographs focus on the region's four primary economic zones: agriculture, fishing, timber, and tourism. Selected photographs were published in a pictorial essay book titled, "Oregon's Coastal People: Their Lives and Livelihoods."

Randall C. Teeuwen was born in 1950 and studied journalism and history at Colorado State University. He worked as a free-lance photographer, writer, documentary film-maker, and historian, conducting photograph and oral history documentary projects in Colorado and Oregon in the 1970s and 80s. Teeuwen later went on to work in television news, community and media relations, stakeholder relations, and community investment for organizations in Colorado and Wyoming.
