Historical Note

Gerber's Ink Pot was a newsletter published by Arcady Press, a firm in Portland, Oregon, run by Joseph R. Gerber (1891-1966). The first issue was published in 1915. The newsletters consisted of articles relating to advertising, and were known for their promotion of direct advertising. In 1917, Arcady Press merged with the Oregon Multigraphing Company to become the Arcady Press & Mail Advertising Company; by 1924, it had become the advertising firm Joseph R. Gerber Company (later the Gerber Advertising Agency). In 1939, the Joseph R. Gerber Company revived Gerber's Ink Pot.
