Biographical Note
Timothy Leary (1920-1996) was a prominent figure in the counterculture movement of the 1960s. He became an advocate for psychedelic drugs after experimenting with them as a clinical psychologist at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Timothy Leary appeared for two shows as a "stand-up philosopher" at the Earth Tavern in Portland, Oregon, on Monday, April 21, 1980. The shows began at 8 p.m. and 11 p.m., and were opened by the band Thrills Bros. The Earth Tavern was a tavern located at 632 NW 21st Avenue that featured musical performances. It opened in 1973, and closed in 1982.
