Scope and Contents

Collection consists of 110 photographic prints and 8 negatives, most depicting United States Post Office buildings and branches in Oregon. Six images are of other industrial buildings and scenes. The images show both rural and urban post office locations, and a majority of the prints include handwritten notations indicating the city of the post office. Some prints also include additional information about the facilities when known, such as the county or location number.

Abstract

Collection consists of photographs of United States Post Office locations in Oregon, taken primarily during the 1950s and 1960s. The photographs depict buildings and branches in both urban and rural locations, as well as a small number of other industrial scenes.

Physical Characteristics and Technical Requirements

Researcher access to negatives in the collection is limited for preservation purposes. To inquire about viewing the negatives, contact library staff.

Custodial History

The photographs in this collection were transferred from an unidentified county museum to Richard Engeman around 2000. He donated them to the Oregon Historical Society Research Library in 2020.
