Scope and Contents
The collection consists of Dave Tozer's reminiscences about working for the U.S. Forest Service at a fire lookout station on Dog Mountain, Washington, in the Columbia River Gorge, during the summers from 1958 through 1961. He discusses how he obtained the job, his activities while at the station, improvements made to the station, visitors he received, and local wildlife. He briefly discusses his life afterward. The reminiscences include reproductions of photographs taken at the lookout station while he was working there, which are referenced throughout his reminiscences.

Biographical Note
Dave Tozer grew up in Portland, Oregon. While studying at Washington State College (now Washington State University), worked at the U.S. Forest Service lookout station on Dog Mountain, Washington, in the Columbia River Gorge for the summers of 1958, 1959, 1960, and 1961. He was drafted into the U.S. Army before finishing his studies; he later earned bachelor's and master's degrees at the University of Portland using the G.I. Bill. From the 1970s to the 1990s, he was a teacher in the Tigard-Tualatin School District.
