Scope and Contents

Collection of 82 black-and-white photographs, circa 1916-1947, particularly landscapes, many of unidentified places and scenes. Identified subjects include skiers in Sun Valley, Idaho; buildings and street scenes in Baker City, Oregon; the Snake River, the Willamette River, and Mount Hood; a group identified in the image as the League of Western Writers and the Carrie Noble Hill Billy Band at Laurelhurst Park in Portland, Oregon, in August 1949; and Jackson Sundown, also named Waaya-Tonah-Toesits-Kahn, a Nimiipuu (Nez Perce) horseman and rodeo rider. Unidentified scenes include images of hills, mountains, rock formations, lakes, and rivers; ocean views and coastlines, probably on the Oregon Coast; unidentified buildings; and high-angle views of an unidentified town or towns.
