Scope and Contents
Two pen and ink portraits by M. C. Buchanan, made circa 1870-1883, depicting poet Joaquin Miller (born Cincinnatus Hiner Miller) and author Minnie Myrtle Miller (born Theresa Dyer), who were spouses. The portrait of Joaquin Miller, 20 x 26.4 cm, depicts him in profile, likely later in life, with a long beard. The portrait of Minnie Myrtle Miller, 15.3 x 23 cm, is also a profile, and shows her facing to the left, with her hair loose and trailing down her back.
