Collection consists of an annotated bibliography, with an introductory discussion, compiled by Janet Menze in 1972 for a history course, History 415, at an unidentified college or university. The bibliography lists and describes documents at the Oregon Historical Society Research Library that relate to the Nootka Sound Controversy, a dispute between Great Britain and Spain that began with the seizure of four British vessels off the west coast of Vancouver Island in 1789. The introduction gives an overview of the types and content of relevant documents available at the library, and assesses their value for research on the dispute.
