Scope and Contents

Collection consists of 50 black and white photographs and 1 photocopy map, 1928-1956, of Detroit, Oregon, before the Detroit Dam was built, the excavation of the site of the dam, its construction and dedication, and the resulting lake. The photographs are production prints of images that were published in the Oregon Journal newspaper; most have the Journal's captions and other information on the back. Many of the photographs were taken by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
