Scope and Contents

One album containing 160 black and white photographs, 1938-1954, of scenes along the main line of the Spokane, Portland, and Seattle Railway, including: laying of tracks in East St. Johns in July 1952; Union Station in Portland, Oregon; stations in Stevenson, Camas, Wishram, Wind Mountain, Lamont, White Salmon, and North Dalles, Washington; aerial views of the Kaiser shipyards, Vancouver, Washington; grain elevators, Wishram, Washington, and The Dalles, Oregon; interior views of dining and lounge rail cars; and many images of trains and tracks. Most of the images have typewritten or handwritten captions on the prints or the album pages. Collection also includes a small number of loose negatives. The images were taken by multiple photographers, many by Photo-Art Commercial Studios.
