Scope and Contents
Album containing 46 black and white photographs by J. F. Ford, circa 1890-1900, the bulk of which depict logging activities. Scenes include loggers with standing and felled trees, and with steam donkeys; group portraits of workers and families; transportation of logs, including logs being pulled by horses and oxen, log rafts, and logs being moved by rail; and the office of the Eastern Lumber Company. Also included are cityscapes of Portland and Astoria, Oregon; sternwheel steamboats, including the Bailey Gatzert; Cape Horn in the Columbia River Gorge; and Mount Hood, Mount St. Helens, and Mount Adams.
