Biographical note
William M. McAllister (1905-1986) was a Medford, Oregon, lawyer who was elected to the Oregon Supreme Court in 1956 and served until 1976, including seven years as chief justice of the court. He also served in the state Legislature from 1937-1943, and as speaker of the Oregon House of Representatives in 1943. McAllister married Jean Middleton in 1932.
