One album containing 146 black and white photographs, circa 1835-1910, primarily of steamboats, most identified and dated. Steamboats depicted include: Alice, Albany, Alliance, Alaskan, A. A. McCully, Brother Jonathan, Bonita, City of Salem, Carrie Ladd, Callender, Cyclone, Cascades, Chelan, Dayton, Daisy Ainsworth, Dalles City, Dayton, Eliza Anderson, Enterprise, Elk, Express, Emma Hayward, Fleetwood, Geo. E. Starr, Gov. Grover, Game Cock, G. W. Shaver, Gov. Newell, G. H. Mendell, Great Republic, Harvest Queen, H. B. Kennedy, Hyak, Hassalo, Idaho, Inland Empire, John Gates, James B. Stephens, J. M. Hannaford, Jennifer Clark, Kehonia, Lucia Mason, Lot Whitcomb, Lewiston, Multnomah, Modoc, Messenger, Metland, Maria, North Star, North Pacific, Norma, Oneonta, Ocean Wave, Ohio, Olympian, Relief, Reliance, Regulator, Ramona, Staghound, Sadie B., Shaver, Telephone, T. J. Potter, Three Sisters, Victorian, Washington, W. S. Ladd, Wasco, Willamette Chief, Wallowa, Wilson G. Hunt, and Yakima. Other subjects depicted include: officers of the Elmore; an Odd Fellows procession; downtown Portland, East Portland, and Oregon City in Oregon; steamboat inspectors John Couch and John Gates; and a post office and customs house in Astoria, Oregon. The collection also includes a receipt for a payment of $1 from Capt. Jones to the Veteran Steamboatmen's Association, dated July 8, 1928.
