Biographical note
William Lewis Brewster, Jr. was born in Portland, Oregon, in 1905. He attended the Thacher School, Reed College, Princeton University, and the Harvard Business School. In 1931, he and Frances Nan Montgomery were married; they later had two children. He worked in property management and real estate sales for 50 years, retiring in 1978. He served as president of the Oregon Mental Health Association, the Urban League of Portland, the Council of Social Agencies, the Portland Art Commission, Catlin Gabel School, and the Portland Association of Building Owners and Managers. He died in 1993.
