Scope and Contents
One album, circa 1850-1866, containing card photographs and tintypes of members of the A. C. Gibbs family and others. The photographs are portraits of both children and adults; most are unidentified. Identified subjects include Gibbs' children, Charles W. Gibbs, Kate Gibbs Muir, and Lizzie Gibbs Packard; his wife, Margaret Watkins Gibbs; Edward Watkins, William Watkins, Henry Watkins, and Edna Louisa Watkins, the children of his brother-in-law, Dr. William Henry Watkins; and Jessie Farrell, daughter of Robert S. Farrell.

Biographical note
Addison Crandall Gibbs (1825-1886) was the Civil War governor of Oregon, a Union supporter, a lawyer, and a businessman. He came to Oregon in 1852, married Margaret M. Watkins in 1854, was elected governor in 1862, and served as a U. S. Attorney in 1872. Gibbs was instrumental in founding the "Union League." He also served on the board of Willamette University. Gibbs died in London in December 1886.
