Scope and Contents

Small collection of black and white photographs of the William S. Ladd house at NW Columbia Street and NW Broadway in Portland, Oregon. Six loose prints primarily depict the exterior of the house from different vantages and in different seasons; one shows a fountain in front of the home. The loose prints also include one image, with a duplicate, of a room in the house, showing furniture, a chandelier, statuary, and framed artwork. Also included in the collection is a collage of five black and white photographs mounted on a card with a hand-drawn decorative border. This collage was published in the Oregon Journal newspaper on Sunday, March 27, 1927, under the headline "Pioneer Dwelling Soon to be Razed." One photograph shows the exterior of the house; the other four, according to the caption in the Journal, show the music room, living room, library, and dining room.
