Scope and Contents

Collection consists of 265 black and white photographs and 1 cyanotype, most in three albums, 1909-1927, of members of the Lucille and Dave Welch family. Albums 606 and 608 focus primarily on Lucille Welch and friends, with subjects including Columbia University (now the University of Portland), Oneonta Gorge and Multnomah Falls, children, mine workers, outdoor activities, and military life before World War I. Album 607 focuses on David Welch's travels and friends, with subjects including Gearhart, Oaks Park, and Lafayette in Oregon; Hollins Institute in Hollins, Virginia; Ardle Cottage in Long Beach, Washington; a fire at the Multnomah Athletic Club; several dogs; and sports at Lincoln High School in Portland, Oregon.
