Scope and Contents

Collection consists of 23 black and white photographs, circa 1880-1924, of the homes and land of the Carpenter family in the Lents area of Portland, Oregon, including unnamed family members, the family car, and bridges over the Clackamas River. Also included are portraits of members of the Archibald family and friends, many unidentified, including: Lena, Daisy and John Archibald, Effie Lyons, Tillie Murphy, and Mary Houser.

Biographical note

The Carpenter family owned large amounts of land in Portland, Oregon and Clark County, Washington. Family members included Gwendoline Carpenter, Isabelle Carpenter, and Royal E. Carpenter.
