Scope and Contents
Hand-colored lithograph depicting a Native man of the Aleutian Islands in winter attire, 25 x 35.5 cm. The lithograph is Plate 60 from the 1811 edition of "Costume of the Russian Empire," published by Edward Harding, which included text in both English and French. Text just below the image reads "Pub Jany 1 1803 by E. Harding Pall Mall." Handwritten in pencil on the lithograph is the French title for plate's accompanying text in the book: "Aleutien dans son habit d'hiver"; the English title is "An Aleutian in his winter dress."
