Digitized item from the Yasui Brothers business records, Mss 2949. The item, written in a pre-World War II Japanese script, is a letter from Masuo Yasui to Taiitsuro Yasui, dated 31 December 1930. In the letter Masuo mentions that Tsuyoshi and Minoru are helping him with New Year's greeting cards and states that it is the first cold night of the year. He continues on to describe the year's recession and how it is negatively impacting business. Masuo also shares his thoughts on reading Taiitsuro's letter about his trip, memories, and recent events of mutual acquaintances. Selections from the letter have been translated into English and modern Japanese.
