Columbia River Fishing and Trading Company ledger no. 2

 Digital Record
Identifier: Mss938_B3_001

Summary

Digitized ledger for the Columbia River Fishing and Trading Company, with entries dating from December 14, 1834 to April 10, 1839. During this time Captain Joseph Thing replaced Robert Evans as the agent in charge at Fort Hall. The ledger records general expenses and accounts with customers, traders, and company employees (the first 35 pages list transactions sequentially, after which they are organized by account holder). The sale of Fort Hall and its inventory to the Hudson's Bay Company, brokered by Thing, is reflected in entries recorded in late 1837. The entries are cross-referenced with an alphabetical index of names at the front of the book. The ledger forms part of Mss 938, the Columbia River Fishing and Trading Company records.
