Columbia River Fishing and Trading Company ledger no. 1
Summary
Digitized ledger for the Columbia River Fishing and Trading Company, with entries dating from July 31, 1834 to July 21, 1837. The ledger contains instructions written by company representative Nathaniel J. Wyeth to agent Robert Evans concerning operation of the Fort Hall trading post (in present-day Idaho); price lists for furs traded with Native Americans and whites; and inventories of goods stored at the fort, cached nearby, and taken by Wyeth to the Columbia River. The bulk of the ledger lists accounts for customers, traders, and company employees, which are cross-referenced in an alphabetical index of names at the front of the book. The ledger is part of Mss 938, the Columbia River Fishing and Trading Company records.
