Digitized selections from papers of Robert Shortess (1797-1878), an early emigrant to Oregon who lived near Astoria and worked as an Indian sub-agent and a school clerk. The digitized selections primarily consist of correspondence, particularly between Shortess and Anson Dart, but also include deeds, receipts, a document providing special instructions to Indian agents, and a certificate of membership in the Multnomah Circulating Library.
