Digitized version of a United States passport issued to Portland architect Albert E. Doyle prior to his 1906 tour of Europe. On the front of the document are a description of Doyle's physical features, a seal of the U.S. Department of State, and the signatures of Doyle and U.S. Secretary of State Elihu Root. On the back is a stamp of the Turkish Consulate General in Athens granting permission to travel to Constantinople, written in French and dated May 20, 1906.
