Pacific Northwest District of Kiwanis International directories, 1984-2001
Scope and Contents
The collection consists of records of the Kiwanis Club of Portland, Oregon. The bulk of materials consist of record books that cover the last few months of 1918 and most of the years from 1919 to 1968. These books, labeled as either "Notices" or "Kiwanis Files," contain compiled event programs, flyers, and ephemera; photographs; correspondence; newsletters such as the Pacific Northwest Kiwanis District Bulletin and the Monthly Club Bulletin; directories for Kiwanis International districts; and administrative records including reports, financial statements, proposed bylaw revisions and resolutions, and election ballots for club officers. These record books document the club's participation in Kiwanis conventions in Oregon, Washington, elsewhere in the United States, and in Canada; its participation in the Portland Rose Festival; and its involvement with other organizations, including the Camp Fire Girls. Materials relating to the Camp Fire Girls include photographs of Camp Namanu.
Other materials in the collection include the club's charter certificate; bylaws; compiled monthly reports from 1923 to 1967; directories for the club from the 1930s to the 1990s and 2009; a program for the club's centennial luncheon in 2019; a club bowling league roster and handbook; directories for the Pacific Northwest District of Kiwanis from 1951 to 2001; a tribute book of correspondence and photographs compiled in 1944 for the 25th wedding anniversary of club secretary Harold C. Jones and his wife, Peggy Jones; and two bound volumes of the magazine Kiwanis Torch from 1918 and 1919.
