Tape 16, Side 1, through Tape 18, Side 2. In the seventh interview session, conducted on September 2, 2011, Heintzman further discusses TriMet’s hiring practices. He speaks extensively about a 3-year contract dispute with the Rogue Valley Transit District, and describes how it was resolved. He discusses the unique status of TriMet workers before the passage of Oregon’s Public Employees Act, which officially classified public transit workers as public employees. He talks about ATU’s electoral system, and about his re-election in 2000.
