Scope and Contents

Tape 3, Side 2, through Tape 5, Side 1. In the second interview session, conducted on July 23, 2011, Heintzman discusses his first involvement with a union while working as an agent for the Oregon Liquor Control Commission, and describes his job duties. He talks about his service in the U.S. Army as military police at Fort Hood, Texas. He then talks about studying criminal justice at the University of Portland, about his marriage history, and about his work as a TriMet police officer from 1982 to 1988. He also discusses the relationship between the Portland Police Bureau and the TriMet police. He then speaks extensively about serving as president and business agent of Amalgamated Transit Union Local 757. He describes his campaign, and talks about working with Oregon Governor Neil Goldschmidt.
