Scope and Contents

Tape 10, Side 2, through Tape 12, Side 1. In the seventh and final interview session, conducted on April 7, 2011, Nickum continues to discuss her work for ATU Local 757. She talks about ATU leadership, both local and international; lists businesses affiliated with Local 757; and describes her job duties. She also talks about how the local used the Northwest Labor Press to communicate with its members. She discusses an embezzlement scandal within Local 757, describes learning to use a computer in the 1980s, and shares her reasons for retiring in 2006. She then talks about her retirement activities, particularly her work transcribing oral history interviews for the Oregon Historical Society Research Library. She speaks extensively about people she met, vacations she took, and performances she saw over the course of her life. She closes the interview by talking about her hobbies, about the retirement community she lives in, and about current events.
