Scope and Contents
Tape 6, Side 1, through Tape 7, Side 1. In the fifth interview session, conducted on February 22, 2011, Nickum continues to discuss Helen Nickum and Associates, Inc., and her life in Washington, D.C. She describes the work her business did related to the Cuban Missile Crisis and to riots and protests that took place across the U.S. in 1968. She also discusses typewriting and duplication technology available during her career as a secretary, then talks about jobs she worked after her return to Portland. She discusses her involvement in a class action lawsuit against U.S. Bank for sex discrimination.
