Tape 4, Side 2, through Tape 5, Side 2. In the fourth interview session, conducted on February 15, 2011, Nickum speaks further about her life and work in Washington, D.C., from 1954 to 1971. She shares her memories of the 1956 Democratic National Convention. She speaks extensively about running her secretarial business, Helen Nickum and Associates, Inc.; she discusses her clients, her staff, and the building they worked in. She shares her reasons for closing the business and returning to Portland in 1971.
