The Speck (NE 122nd), circa 1960
Scope and Contents
The collection consists of 706 photographic prints, 58 slides, and 660 negatives. The bulk of the images show Portland restaurants from the late 1950s to the early 1970s. Most of the images document restaurant interiors and exteriors, personnel, and kitchens, with special emphasis on stoves, ovens, and fryers. The collection also includes photographs of restaurants and gas equipment at other locations in Oregon and Washington.
A small portion of the images show meetings and activities of the Northwest Natural Gas Cmpany's advertising department during the 1970s. Their relationship to the other images in the collection, if any, is not known.
