Scope and Contents
Tape 1, Side 1, through Tape 2, Side 1. In the first interview session, conducted on August 3, 1999, Bodi discusses her family background and early life in Rhode Island and Pennsylvania, then describes how she became a lawyer specializing in environmental law in Seattle, Washington. She speaks extensively about her work as a lawyer for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration General Counsel, including relicensing dams in the Pacific Northwest. She also discusses legislation and court decisions that affected her work. She reflects on her accomplishments protecting salmon and other fish through her work with NOAA, and discusses the effectiveness of the Northwest Power Planning Council. She briefly talks about her work as a lawyer with American Rivers, then shares her reasons for taking a job with the Bonneville Power Administration.
