Scope and Contents
This interview was conducted by Linda S. Dodds at the home of Julia S. Bernard in Portland, Oregon, on August 12, 1980. Bernard (born 1926), discusses her memories of spending childhood summers with her family at the Harmony Falls Lodge, which was located on the north side of Mount St. Helens and was destroyed in the eruption. She describes the cabins at the lodge, talks about the people who operated the lodge, and looks at photographs and discusses them. She talks about recreational activities at the lodge, including pageants and hiking, and about other families who frequented the lodge. She closes the interview by discussing how little Harmony Lodge changed over the 20th century.
