Scope and Contents
Tape 6. In the fifth interview session, conducted on February 20, 2014, Edwards discusses Local 48’s market recovery program, which ensured union members could work on any available electrical job while still earning union wages. He describes how the program works, talks about the reasons why it was implemented in the 1980s, and discusses how unions benefit not just their membership, but all workers in a union’s field. He speaks about the IBEW’s Code of Excellence, a set of ethical guidelines for union members, and about education and training that the union offers to its members. He discusses his involvement with union negotiations.
