Scope and Contents
The collection consists of the papers of the Hockenyos family of Portland, Oregon. Family members represented include George Hockenyos, his brother Henry Hockenyos, and George Hockenyos' children, George F. Hockenyos and Marie E. Hockenyos. A significant portion of the collection relates to Henry Hockenyos' and George F. Hockenyos' military service. These materials consist of photographs of both serving in the National Guard and a diary that George F. Hockenyos kept while he served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Other materials include legal and financial papers, including property records; family photographs; photographs relating to a grocery store that George Hockenyos owned; photographs and documents relating to George F. Hockenyos' and Marie E. Hockenyos' education; Marie E. Hockenyos' Christmas card registry; greeting cards sent to and within the family; and ephemera, including event programs.
